Przetłumaczyłam więc nagłówek tej kolumny jako "Simple Past" (albo "Past Simple", używa się obu form). Osoba ucząca się angielskiego na pewno zna tę nazwę (chyba że mówimy o małych dzieciach). Słówko "Tense" dla uproszczenia zgubiłam. W trzeciej kolumnie jest forma, która nazywa się uczenie "Past Participle", a której używa się w czasie "Present Perfect (Tense)" i wydaje mi się, że w nagłówku można użyć jednego z tych...

Temat: Past tenses
Past tenses Hi! I wnna ask if somebody of you - dear readers, whenever thought about tenses in English. I bet you did! But I wanna know, do you really feel differences using Past tenses while speaking? I wonder if Poles can really use proper tense in proper conditions. For example. I know how to say a sentence: Dzisiaj kupiłem gazetę - ... is not finished, so we must use Present Perfect. But in the second one we must use Simple Past, the time is finished! But both cases refer to the same day! Isn't that a little bit weird? I think it's really tough for Poles. I wonder what're your ways to learn these tenses? But for me it's really hard! Thx Well, let's start with simple bits: "wyjeżdżała na kilka miesięcy" isn't the same as 'she went for few/several months', is it? It needs continuous tense and the one to render this nicely would be, of course, 'she was going...' now, since you are talking about a past event and/or 'gdybasz', you introduce 'unreal past' and go a tense back and end up with?... Well? Your environmentally-friendly teacher.

Temat: difference between sentences
There is a general rule to apply with the sequencing of tenses from direct to indirect speech, namely the one tense further back rule…ie when we use a reporting verb in the past, the verbs used in the original tense are usually moved one tense further back: will / shall future = would is going to future = was going to can / may = could / might present progressive = past progressive present simple = past simple present perfect = past perfect past simple = past perfect You also note that we...

Temat: Reported Speech - no changes in the past?
In spoken English a sentence in The Simple Past quite often remains unchanged in reported speech, if it does not cause confusion regarding the time of the action. In other words - when it is not essential to the meaning of a sentence to uderline that one action happened at an earlier point of time than another action, then the Simple Past remains the Simple Past. In spoken English. In written English, however, it is correct to change into the Past Perfect. But because at school we learn a less formal English, simply ... she is now dead. If the sentence remained unchanged in the reported speech, it would be identical with: He said, "I love her." the Simple Present tense which routinely changes into the Simple Past: He said he loved her. And here confusion would arise. As to your examples - well, I am not a native speaker of English. To me these sentences ... be several native speakers. Temat: Past Perfect
matka_chrzestna napisała: > Past Perfect Simple & Past Perfect Continuous, Past Simple, strona bierna > > Dlczego jest tak, a nie tak jak ja zrobiłam? > > 1. We weren’t / ... is the closest we get to the past subjunctive that a language like Spanish, with its more developed verb, would look for there. ("Antes que la policia HABIA TOMADO las huellas ... tenses which moves everything one stage back in the past. > > 2. The last festival wasn’t / hadn’t been very successful, don̵ > 7;t you > think ? > Ma ... venue this year" - in this case there is a reason for the pluperfect. You are comparing a past event to one that was already finished in the past and that ... a horse? Have you ever driven an automatic car? Have you ever been DP'd on a wet leather sofa? Experience gained is always reported with the perfect tense. "I had been riding the horse for several hours when suddenly the saddle fell off" - here you use a continuous because you are setting the scene for a past event to happen suddenly in the midle of an unfinished past action. There is no such context here. OK?
